the haze is back...

Image
Pictures taken from my house on 16 Oct 06 0744hr (PSI: 100+) (Picture around the same time before haze) it seems like the haze is on their way back... this morning was a bit blur like the first 2 pictures. remember that the weather was good during Deepavali and Hari Raya? there's a rumour that said that all the people from that country were on holiday-mood and the burning of forest stopped. Hahahaha.... i hope you don't really believe that. i was too rush to capture another shot of the coastline.... PS: see the white dot on the second pic? that's the sun.... *sigh*

work on your strengths or weaknesses?

life is ever contradicting. time is always our greatest enemy. economics teaches us "opportunity cost", we have to forgo something in order to gain another. it is like strengths and weaknesses. you train hard and focus on your strengths but your gap in weaknesses widen. you work on your weaknesses and lose sight of your strengths. it is like work and family. how much time to allocate for them so that it strikes a balance. this question is for your kid and yourself: should you capitalise on your strengths or work hard on your weaknesses? most will do the latter like me... our upbringing has somehow taught us to do so. if we are weak in a subject, we put especially more effort to get better grades. But often, nothing has changed. if we are not sociable, we take verbal communication courses and join social event to brush up and widen our social circle. is this really effective? of course, i am not referring to bad habits. at what stage should you or your kid work on strengths? a

Worms in your Apple

not your usual worms and not the normal Apple... read on Windows virus worms onto some Apple iPods 10 / 17 / 06 By Ina Fried Apple Computer warned on Tuesday that some of its latest iPods have shipped with a Windows virus. The company said that a small number of video iPods made after Sept. 12 included the RavMonE virus. It said it has seen fewer than 25 reports of the problem, which it said does not affect other models of the media player, nor does it affect Macs. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company apologized on its Web site for the problem, but also used the opportunity to jab at Microsoft, its operating system rival. "As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it," Apple said on its site. Apple Vice President Greg Joswiak told CNET News.com that the virus was discovered last week and said the company has been working around the clock since then to discover the root

Hokkaido....here I come

after the last trip to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto, though mostly in Tokyo. i have been planning to visit Japan again. it is simply great! food, people, warm greetings! all items you bought, they will gift-wrap. a package of traditional vs modern, eastern vs western culture, funky young vs aging population, etc. it's still a long way before our retail industry get to their service standards but it's definitely a path that we need to go (let's see another 10years' time for Singapore's retail service). hot spring (onsen) and stay at the traditional Japanese inn was simply a fulfilling experience. *expensive though* if i can afford, i will stay in another in my next visit (with great sashimi). queuing up at Japanese sushi restaurant at 6am to get the freshest and best sushi is something that you will never experience in our country. could such a restaurant survive here? all these great memories had past for more than a year and i am still reliving them like yesterday. Check all Sony Lithium-Ion Batteries!

don't hesitate now. check all your electronic equipment that uses lithium-ion batteries, are they from Sony? you could be under part of the battery recall program. just a month after recall from Dell & Apple laptop batteries from Sony. Toshiba and IBM (Lenovo) had joined in the recall of batteries from Sony (you have to visit their respective websites to see whether you are affected and how to exchange for new ones). it does not matter whether your machine is still under warranty or not. take note: digital cameras, handphones, etc are affected too. please check with your respective suppliers. don't take it lightly, you may burn yourself.
